International Food and Culture Night!

Globally Connected- International Support Community of Bay County will be hosting an
 International Food and Culture Night
Saturday, September 22, 2012
5:30-7:30pm
Pediatrics Plus
927 Grace Avenue  Panama City, FL 32401
Childcare Provided- RSVP if needed- We will eat together with our families and then children will go with the babysitter while we have group discussion.

Please bring a dish (main course, appetizer, dessert or side) from your child's birth country to share with the group. You can find recipes online by googling " 'Country Name' authentic recipes".

We will provide paper goods and drinks. Please be prepared to share with the group a little about the origin of the dish and if it has a special meaning in your child's birth country. Also feel free to dress your child in clothes from their birth country and/or bring items you collected in their birth country (art, books, decor, etc.) to share with the group.

We will also have a time for brainstorming ways of teaching our children about culture as they grow.

Please RSVP and let us know if you can attend. We would like to have a head count by Monday, September 17th.

Globally Connected TV Spotlight

We had the great experience this week of working with Meredith TerHaar from WJHG, Channel 7, our local NBC station. She did a great job of explaining our mission for Globally Connected and we hope that the TV spot helps connect even more peopple in the Bay County area. Adoption is an awesome thing and we're glad we get to be a part of such a great community of people. Here's a link to the story

The Summit Conference

I wanted to share a great resource with you. The Christian Alliance for Orphans has an annual conference called "The Summit" and all of the sessions from this year's conference are online to purchase. There are some really great ones like Karen Purvis speaking on attachment and trauma and one on nurturing your marriage during the adoption process. Check them out!

"The Christian Alliance for Orphans’ annual Summit has become the national hub for what Christianity Today recently called, “the burgeoning Christian orphan care movement.” Summit VIII on May 3-4, 2012 at Saddleback Church in Southern California is expected to draw 1,800 to 2,000 pastors, grassroots advocates, organizational leaders and church ministry heads. Alongside more than eighty workshops, the unforgettable plenary sessions will include Francis Chan, Rick and Kay Warren, Crawford Lorritts, Dennis Rainey, Steven Curtis Chapman, and other global leaders. Summit inspires, equips and connects for adoption, foster care and global orphan ministry."
